The next five years will be a critically important time for Cape Coral. We must think with our heads and not with our hearts, make responsible decisions now to control taxes and spending, and continue on the path of smart growth practices. Above all I believe this can be accomplished in an honest, responsible, and civil manner. I ask you to vote for Tom Hair.

Thank you!

Thanks to all who supported my primary victory. I am humbled and honored by you generous vote of confidence.

All I ask is that you and anyone close to you get out the idea that people need to vote, to participate, to become part of Thomas Jefferson's dream of an informed electorate. Don't even ask them to vote for me...just ask them to vote.

A 14% turnout on Patriot's Day with a son in Iraq for the third time fighting for the very right most folks are too lazy to exercise has me deeply troubled for the future.

Prove me wrong...you, the proud 14% who have demonstrated that you care. Get your spouses, friends and neighbors informed on the issues...whether you agree with my platform of fiscal responsibility, growth planning and economic development is irrelevant....but I hope you do.

All that really matters is that you, the 14%, create a sense of urgency so that the true democratic opinion of the entire electorate is represented.

"Government always finds a need for whatever money it gets."
            - Ronald Reagan

Truer words have never been spoken. The city general fund budget, supported by our property tax dollars, has increased a whopping 60% during the last two budgets while our tax rate has decreased only 20%. Gov. Crist has mandated all state agencies cut 4% from their next budget and I propose we follow his lead. Cutting the income stream is the easiest way to control spending

On fiscal responsibility…
We need an amendment to our city charter that mandates fiscal responsibility by limiting the rate of growth in the general fund budget to be no more than the sum of the rate of inflation and population growth.

On smart growth…
We must be proactive and continue long range planning to implement transportation and utility requirements in America’s fourth fastest growing city.

On economic development…
We need to fast-track CRA projects and expand the use of commercial activity centers to increase our commercial tax base.
